Keeping up our efforts to make our National Events more accessible, this year also we are organizing the National Cub Rally and Pre-Cub Meet in multiple locations. Kick-started in GDh. Gahdhoo on 16th November 2024, this National Cub Rally & Pre-Cub Meet brought together 4 Scout Groups from Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal Atoll. The event saw the participation of over 99 Pre-Cubs and Cubs, creating a memorable experience of fun, learning, and camaraderie.
This inaugural event celebrated the essence of Scouting by offering young participants diverse opportunities to grow, explore, and connect.
Dynamic Zones of Engagement
The event was structured to provide our youth members experiential learning opportunities, focused into four interactive and educational zones, each providing a unique blend of adventure, creativity, and learning:
Cultural Zone
Participants had the opportunity to explore traditional Maldivian crafts and cultural practices, including Thundu Kuna Viyun, Kasabu Viyun, Dhandi Jehun, Fangi Vinun, Boduberu Jehun, and Roanu Veshun. This zone celebrated the heritage and skills passed down through generations, connecting the Cubs with their roots.
Community Zone
This zone focused on civic engagement and partnerships with key organizations such as the Maldivian Red Crescent, Maldives Police Service, Gadhdhoo Council, and Gadhdhoo Health Center. It emphasized the role of community collaboration in building a supportive and resilient society.
Adventure Zone
Adventure awaited participants with activities that encouraged resilience, teamwork, and physical challenges. Highlights included tire crossing, cargo net, balancing beam, tunnel crawl, commando crawl, and commando cross. These activities brought excitement and a sense of accomplishment to the young Scouts.
Art & Craft Zone
Creativity flourished in this zone, where participants engaged in handicrafts, painting, drawing, and origami. It was a space for Cubs to express themselves artistically while exploring their imagination.
A Community Effort
The success of the rally in GDh.Gadhdhoo was a testament to the dedication and support of local Scout Groups, Schools, Parents, Individuals, Government Agencies, CSOs, Maldives Police Service, Secretariat of South Huvadhu Atoll Gadhdhoo Council, Maldivian Red Crescent, Maldives National Cadet Corps, Gadhdhoo Health Center, The vibrant energy of the island was evident as participants, volunteers, and community members came together, showcasing the true essence of Scouting—unity, service, and adventure.
The Journey Ahead
The event held in GDh. Gadhdhoo marked the beginning of a series of five events planned across the Maldives, highlighting the inclusiveness and nationwide reach of the Scouting movement.
The upcoming rallies are scheduled for:
- November 30, 2024, in N.Holhudhoo, and Malé City.
- December 7, 2024, in Addu City and Kulhudhuffushi City.
These events aim to bring the joy and values of Scouting to youth throughout the Maldives, offering platforms for learning, growth, and connection.
The National Cub Rally & Pre-Cub Meet 2024 is not just a celebration of Scouting but a movement that inspires young people to embrace leadership, service, and adventure. It sets the stage for a brighter, more united future as it empowers the next generation to make a meaningful difference.
