We are proud to have organized a successful Earth Hour event on March 25th, 2023. Our national event was held at Ghaazee School from 21:30 to 22:30hrs, and it was a great opportunity for young people to come together and show our commitment to reducing energy consumption and protecting our planet.
This year’s official Earth Hour theme was “Invest in Our Planet”. As Scouts, we are dedicated to promoting leadership, environmental awareness, and community service among young people. Earth Hour is an ideal platform for us to take meaningful action towards preserving the planet and safeguarding its future.
During the event, scouts were encouraged to switch off non-essential electric lights and appliances for one hour as a symbolic gesture of our commitment to reducing energy consumption. We also organized interactive activities and educational sessions aimed at raising awareness about climate change and its impact on our planet.
As the Scout Association of Maldives, we recognize the urgent need to take concrete steps to mitigate the effects of climate change. Our Earth Hour event provided a platform for us to do our part and make a positive impact in our communities. The success of our event extended beyond the Greater Malé Area, with scout groups nationwide celebrating Earth Hour in their own communities.
We are proud to have played a role in promoting environmental awareness and inspiring others to take action towards a sustainable future. As scouts, we will continue to advocate for the protection of our planet and invest in sustainable practices for a better future. We hope to see even more participation in Earth Hour events in the future, and we encourage everyone to take action towards building a sustainable future for all.
