2 Adult Leaders appointed as Leader Trainers of the Scout Association of Maldives 

The Adult Support Committee of the National Scout Committee has endorsed and appointed Mr. Mohamed Azan Abdulla and Mr. Ashraf Waheed as Leader Trainers (Wood badge 4 beads) on 3rd June 2023, at the closing ceremony of the Basic Unit Leaders Training Course – Residential Camp. 

Mr. Mohamed Azan Abdulla attended the Asia-Pacific Regional Course for Leader Trainers that was held virtually from 4th to 13th February 2022. This is the first time for the Asia-Pacific Region to organize the APR CLT online which is one of the ancillary events of the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference.

Azan currently holds the position of National Commissioner for Adult Support and a member of the National Training Team at the Scout Association of Maldives. As part of the 2023 Basic Unit Leaders Training Course, Azan has successfully delivered the online on demand learnings for 3 sections, ensuring that the content was in place as well as coordinating with all relevant content developers.

Mr. Ashraf Waheed attended the 1st Nepal Scouts Course of Leader Training that was held in Hyatt Place, Kathmandu, Nepal from 9th – 15th April 2022. The training course was organized with support from WOSM Asia Pacific Support Center, and a team of International Trainers. 

Ashraf is currently a Scout Leader of the 3rd Male’, Ahmadhiyya School Scout Group and a member of the National Training Team. As part of the 2023 Basic Unit Leaders Training Course, Ashraf has successfully organized and supported the facilitation and delivery of over 50 virtual discussion sessions, coordinating with 300+ participants and supporting facilitators in delivering those sessions.

Both Azan and Ashraf along with 2 other Adult Leaders (trainers) are part of the core team planning and implementing the 2023 BULTC. The core team was responsible for the content revamp, course design, development, and delivery. Azan was also the camp director at the residential camp that just concluded while Ashraf led on the administration and logistics for the camp.

The Scout Association of Maldives appreciates the service of both leaders in the development of adult leaders necessary to deliver scouting in the Maldives.
