HEVP, Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef meets the Maldivian Contingent taking part in the 10th National Scout Jamboree, Sri Lanka

In a significant gathering at Ghiyasuddin International School today, His Excellency Vice President of Maldives, Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, convened with the Maldivian Contingent bound for the 10th National Scout Jamboree in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, scheduled from February 20-26, 2024.

During the meeting, Vice President Latheef extended his best wishes to the scouts representing Maldives at the Jamboree. He underscored the importance of upholding Maldivian values while serving as ambassadors of their nation on the international stage. Stressing the significance of exemplary conduct, ethics, camaraderie, and unity among the scouts, he urged them to prioritize prayer, time management, and respect for authority figures throughout their journey.

Moreover, Vice President Latheef took the opportunity to commend the invaluable contributions of scout leaders in orchestrating events like the Scout Jamborees. He expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment to societal advancement through such initiatives.

In a symbolic gesture, the Vice President handed over the national flag of Maldives to The Head of Contingent, Deputy Chief Commissioner for Organizational Development, Ismail Rifau.

Themed ‘Leadership for Change,’ this Jamboree promises to be a transformative experience for the participating scouts, offering them opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and cultural exchange.

With a total contingent size of 242, comprising 205 scouts, 2 International Service Team Members, 21 Scout Leaders, and 14 Contingent Management Team members, Maldives stands poised to make a meaningful contribution to this international gathering of scouting enthusiasts.
